FAQ

When do you photograph sessions?

I love the "glowing" look of photographs, so if it's a horse + rider session outdoors, I like to photograph mid-day (if there's lots of trees on the farm) or during golden hour to achieve that gorgeous glow!

I like to photograph during the week Monday-Friday since barns tend to be busier on weekends. That way there's less commotion around the farm and we can really get you and your horse relaxed and focused on each other.

Where are you based and do you travel?

I live in Crystal Lake and offer sessions in the McHenry, Kane, DuPage, Dekalb, Boone, Will and Cook counties. I include travel up to 20 miles from Crystal Lake -- anything over 20 miles will have a small travel fee.

Do you offer mini sessions?

I do offer equine mini sessions! I require three sessions to be booked at each barn to reserve a mini session date at your barn in my calendar. Please send me an email if that's something you'd like more information on!

What should i keep in mind when preparing for my session?

Here are a couple tips that will ensure you and your horse look their best and will help the session go smoothly for all!
-Do your best at bathing and grooming your horse before our session. Dusty coats are difficult to photoshop out, especially in black background portraits, so try to wipe your horse down before we begin.
-Bring a helper! If you bring a parent or barn friend along to assist in wiping the horse's mouth, applying fly spray, holding water and carrying treats that would be a huge help.
-Pack a small bag to take with us during our shoot: a towel, bottle of water, fly spray, treats, etc.
-Black Background images look next level when your horse is braided! It helps to keep their mane tamed and tidy in photographs. It is certainly not a must, but if at all an option, I always so go for it!
-Clean your tack. We'll use your bridle for portraits, so please make sure all tack is clean.
